The Baptist Union of Great Britain has decided not to changes its stance on marriage and ministry, following a two-year consultation with its members.
In a statement, the Baptist Union Council said that its Ministerial Recognition Rules concerning marriage and ministry will remain unchanged.
Therefore, an accredited Baptist Union minister should not themselves be in a same-sex marriage, although sexual orientation of itself will not be a bar to accreditation.
Writing for Premier Christianity magazine, Chris Goswami says he agrees with the Baptist Union’s decision.
