A group of legislators from Brazil who were censored on social media because of their beliefs are taking their case to the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights.
The censorship, which included a ban on pro-lifers who were criticising the Brazilian President’s policy on abortion, culminated on a complete shutdown of X (formerly Twitter) in the run up to national elections in Brazil.
Senator Eduardo Girao along with Members of the Chamber of Deputies – Marcel Van Hattem, Adriana Ventura, Gilson Marques, and Ricardo Salles – claim violations of their free speech rights.
They are being supported by religious liberty and free speech advocacy organisation ADF International.
