Cathedrals
Cathedrals in the UK are inclusive and welcoming to those of all faiths and none, a report, conducted by ComRes on behalf of think-tank Theos, has found.
The 33-page Spiritual capital report, forged from a study examining the present and future of Church of England cathedrals, showed that 53 per cent of people thought cathedrals were welcoming.
Only 8 per cent disagreed, while 15 per cent of respondents felt that cathedrals were just for people of Christian faith and not for those of other faiths or no faiths.
In a parallel survey of 2000 people around six case study cathedrals, 67 per cent of non-religious people believed that cathedrals were ‘a beacon of Christian faith’.
