Christian schools, parents, and pupils have launched an application for judicial review over the government’s VAT tax changes for private and independent schools.

Under the changes, which were announced last year, the standard 20 per cent VAT rate was added to private school fees from 1 January 2025.

Any fees paid from 29 July 2024 relating to the term starting in January 2025 and onwards will also be subject to VAT.
