Extinction of species
International conservation groups have unveiled a list of the world’s 100 most threatened animals, plants and fungi, stressing that urgent action is required in order to protect them from extinction. Although extinction is expected, it is believed that focused conservation efforts could yet save them.
According to reports in Al-Jazeera, these flora and fauna in 48 different countries may be a thing of the past, including such species as Tarzan’s chameleon.
The Zoological Society of London and the International Union for Conservation of Nature fear the 100 species will die out because they do not provide humans with obvious benefits.
