Embracing our weakness in order to discover God’s strength was the theme of this year’s Derby Bible Week in April. Our speaker was Martin Salter (Grace Community Church Bedford).
He led us through the life and exploits of the Old Testament judge Gideon in a very practical and pastoral way. We were reminded that ‘There are no great men in the Bible – only a great God who uses weak men and women’.
Few will forget Martin’s analogy that living the Christian life and worshiping God is not akin to cooking – tossing in any ingredient you like – but rather baking – following carefully prescribed ingredients.
