Homophobia

The European Parliament has voted on a joint resolution on the fight against homophobia in Europe, but the issue has been clouded by ‘cloak and dagger’ agendas, European Dignity Watch has claimed.
In a blog post, the political advocacy group said, ‘As often happens when it comes to lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transgender lobbying, the resolution has been put on the agenda in a cloak-and-dagger operation.
‘Supported by a wide range of political groups, the document urges member states to legalise same-sex registered partnerships and “marriage”.
‘According to our European representatives in parliament, homophobia is “the irrational fear of, and aversion to, male and female homosexuality and LGBT people based on prejudice”’.
It suggested the lobby group is hiding behind the accusation of homophobia to achieve its own political ends, regardless of religious or cultural background.
Quoting Recital B in the document, the blog post said, ‘Unjustified and unreasonable limitations of rights … are often hidden behind justifications based on public order, religious freedom and the right to conscientious objection’.
The blog post warned: ‘Are our elected members of parliament arguing in favour of suing anyone who doesn’t think or act in conformity with this agenda? It seems so’.
