Independent Christian schools launch legal challenge against new VAT rules on school fees

A group of independent Christian schools are seeking a judicial review of the government’s decision to tax the school fees paid by parents.

The government wants to put 20 per cent value-added tax (VAT) on school fees, meaning families will have to pay significantly more than they already do.

Since the announcement, there have been some hints that the government may pull back its policy following a backlash from schools and parents.
