It’s time to kill off the  assisted suicide bill

There are no circumstances where it would be safe or right to legalise assisted suicide. But to do so in the slap-dash and hasty manner of a private member’s bill adds insult to injury. Shame on the government for giving this bill a fair wind. The more MPs learn about it, the less they like it. No wonder so many of them — including those who initially voted for the bill — are now having their doubts.
