In this book of daily readings for 183 days (six months), David Bugden has achieved his aim to ‘lay a good foundation’ for ‘new converts and those young in the faith’. But mature believers would also benefit from these well-written and attractively presented Bible notes.
The notes are based on the NKJV but could easily be used with another Bible version. Each day there is a question to which readers are invited to write their answer. There are also suggested evening readings, without explanations, taken from Psalms, Proverbs, Philippians and 1 Peter.
Week 1 covers different passages – such as John 1 and Hebrews 1 – to focus on the Lord Jesus Christ, who he is and what he has done. Then follow readings and comments from the Gospel of John; Genesis 1-11; the providence of God in the lives of Ruth, Jonah and Haggai; the Acts of the Apostles; and 1 Thessalonians.
The author mentions various Bible reading schemes for use after the reader has completed this six-month introductory course. I would encourage the author to write further daily Bible notes!
