Capel Fron
A full church witnessed the ordination of Pete Campbell to the ministry and his induction as pastor of Capel Fron Evangelical Church in Penrhyndeudraeth, a church that began in 1975.
The service, held on a snowy winter’s day on 27 November, at Capel Fron, reminded those present of the Lord’s goodness in bringing Mr Campbell and church together. Three men expected to take part were unable to do so because of hazardous weather conditions, as well as a serious family illness.
Nevertheless, there was much expectancy as Pastor Peter Day (Southport) conducted the induction and led the ordination in the absence of Rev. Robert Thomas, who was Mr Campbell’s pastor and mentor.
Folk from the sending church at Llandrindod Wells Baptist Church were unable to be present because of the heavy snowfall. Previous Capel Fron pastor Derrick Adams, of Aberystwyth, preached helpfully from 1 Timothy 4, challenging pastor and church alike.
Capel Fron, a small church in the Snowdonia National Park – a magnificent area where the predominant language is Welsh – is so grateful to many pastors and their churches, who have provided faithful preaching and prayerful support in these past years.
The church covets prayer that God would anoint Pete Campbell with the Holy Spirit, so that Christians will be built up in their faith and folk pointed to the Saviour.
Mr Campbell, a graduate of Swansea University, was pastor’s assistant at Llandrindod Wells for nearly three years and, before that, a worker at Townhill Baptist Church, Swansea. Both he and his wife Rachel have been Relay workers with UCCF in the Swansea area. They have a baby son Seth, who is nearly a year old.
