Iranian assault

Iranian security police arrested a Christian couple, recent converts from Islam, in their home in east Tehran at the beginning of June. This followed a relative informing the police of the couple’s Christian activities.

Tina Rad and her husband Makan Arya were taken from their home and forced to leave their four-year-old daughter Odzhan unattended. Tina was charged with ‘activities against the holy religion of Islam’, for talking to Muslims about her faith.

Makan was charged with ‘activities against national security’. Before being allowed home, the couple were beaten and threatened with prison. The police told them that they would take away their daughter if they did not renounce their new faith.
