Lethal injections
Human rights group Amnesty International (which opposes the death penalty in all forms) has urged doctors and nurses in countries which maintain the death penalty for convicted criminals not to participate in executions by lethal injection as it breaches their ethical oath.
The group claims that drugs used in the process are not always quick and painless and can cause ‘excruciating pain and extreme mental suffering’. The execution method is common in the US and on the rise in China.
