Mexico landslide
Up to 1000 people were feared dead after a landslide in Mexico, according to reports from Associated Press.
Locals said a hillside collapsed in the town of Santa Maria Tlahuitoltepec in Oaxaca state after heavy rainfall, burying up to 300 homes. The town has 9000 residents.
Ulises Ruiz, state governor of Oaxaca, said that relief efforts had been severely hampered by the bad weather, which has blocked roads. President of Mexico Felipe Calderon ordered soldiers and marines into the area to co-ordinate the rescue.
