Partnership in the gospel
In June, Whitby Evangelical Church hosted a group of young people from Parkside Church, Cleveland, Ohio. The team of 17-18 year olds was led by five adults. This is the second time a team has come from Parkside to Whitby.
The Parkside young people assisted the Whitby church with a week of outreach, comprising various activities aimed at bringing the gospel to the local community.
Assemblies were conducted in five local primary schools, reaching over 1000 children. A sports evening and a craft workshop were held for adults, and the team hosted a youth night and participated in the regular children’s work of the church. On Saturday, a community day was held in a local school.
Many of the families and individuals who participate in the church’s regular ministries were present at one or more events during the week, and contact was made with others for the first time. The team, who stayed in the homes of members of the congregation, also undertook some practical work around the church premises.
On the Sunday, local MP Robert Goodwill responded to an invitation to attend worship at the church. He answered questions about his work as a politician, and then the church prayed for him.
The church benefited much from mutual fellowship enjoyed through working together with Parkside in the cause of the gospel.
