The new Europe
The World Reformed Fellowship (WRF) was formed in 2000, when the World Fellowship of Reformed Churches and the International Reformed Fellowship joined together. It has denominations, congregations, institutions and individuals in membership.
The WRF promotes a reformed world and life view, fosters mission and theological education, and seeks to advance reformed thinking in various areas. The organisation also has various regional groups.
The regional group for Europe is planning a conference this autumn entitled ‘The challenge of the new Europe’. This will look at ways in which Christianity can influence, or has been influenced by, changes in the European Union.
Conference speakers will be Lord MacKay of Clashfern, the former Lord Chancellor; Sir Fred Catherwood, former Vice President of the European Parliament; Professor Roel Kuiper of the Erasmus University of Rotterdam, and member of the Senate of the Dutch Parliament; Professor Henri Blocher, Chairman of the Fellowship of European Evangelical Theologians; Dr Peter Jones, founder of Christian Witness to a Pagan Planet; Dr Paul Wells, who teaches theology at Aix en Provence; Dr Emil Bartos of Romania; and Dr Leonardo de Chirico, Vice President of the Italian Evangelical Alliance.
The conference will be from 30 October-1 November, at the Hyde Park Conference Centre, near Utrecht, Holland (details from Fiona.Cameron@htc.uhi.ac.uk).
