Derek went to be with the Lord he loved and served in October 2023. He was brought up in Birkenhead with his older brother John, and while at Birkenhead School attended Crusader classes with one Mr Rankin, his chemistry teacher, who was used in God’s grace as the catalyst for Derek’s conversion.
Derek attended Imperial College and then met his wife Ruth, due to their links in adjacent CU’s.
Iain Murray, reflecting on Derek’s life, recalled, ‘Imperial college stood out around 1960 as possessing a number of attractive and convinced Christians in the CU, who were eager supporters of Dr Lloyd-Jones’s ministry.
