A public petition to repeal non-crime hate incidents has garnered more than 13,000 votes within days of launch.
The petition, which has been filed on the UK Parliament website, was created by campaign group Academics For Academic Freedom (AFAF) .
The group, directed by Professor Dennis Hayes, advocates for free speech and academic freedom in colleges and universities in the UK and Ireland.
At 10,000 signatures, the government will respond to a petition; it will consider a petition for debate in Parliament if it gains 100,000 signatures.
