Grace and Truth Congregation at Rishon- Le-Tzion, Israel, hosted a concert featuring Finland’s Nina Åström on 7 March 2017, in which she performed gospel songs and shared her Christian faith with attendees.
In a Grace and Truth newsletter, the organisation expressed gratitude to Nina, who was called to minister to prisoners in Russia, the Ukraine, Holland and other Baltic and Balkan countries a few years after performing in the Eurovision Song contest.
Eddie, a Grace and Truth evangelist, organised buses for 160 people from different veterans’ clubs to attend, and the church hall was packed with more than 200 people. The newsletter said, ‘It was amazing how one piano and one gentle voice from someone who loves God, can bring a message of Christ and move the hearts of people who have suffered so much from man’s cruelty and sinfulness’.
Nina sang gospel songs in English, Russian, Finnish and Hebrew. These included ‘Give me Jesus,’ ‘Mary, did you know?’ and ‘I will follow Jesus’. Many were listening carefully, smiling and nodding their heads.
Messages between the songs declared simple truths about God and his Son, such as, ‘God showed his love to us by sending his Son, Jesus the Messiah, to die for us and bring an everlasting reconciliation between us and him. You are precious pearls,whose gloss through time and pain has been tarnished, but Jesus Christ came to touch and return the spark of joyful and forgiven lives’.
At the end of the concert Nina Åström prayed for the audience, asking that Jesus would reveal himself to each one of the souls as their only hope.
