The Church of England Evangelical Council (CEEC) has urged the church to ‘to step back from the brink’ of division over the blessing of same-sex couples.
Earlier this year, the Church of England synod voted to endorse blessings for people in sexually active relationships outside of heterosexual marriage.
The CEEC said if such blessings go ahead, the Church of England will ‘ensure that the Anglican Communion will cease to exist in anything like its current form’.
