‘Totalitarian overreach’ as schools bill hits home educators

The government has been accused of making excessive and bureaucratic demands of home schooling parents, forcing them to report personal family information to local officials.

The new Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill requires local authorities to create a register of children in their area who are being home educated.

The bureaucratic requirements could see parents having to provide an hourly breakdown of a child’s life and relationship with their parents, as well as any involvement in outside activities, including places of worship.
