A couple in the US state of Massachusetts have been rejected as suitable foster parents because of their belief in marriage and the reality of biological sex.

Mike and Kitty Burke, who are Roman Catholic, have launched legal action against the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families (DCF), claiming religious discrimination

The DCF openly told the couple they could not foster because they ‘would not be affirming to a child who identified as LGBTQIA’.

Papers lodged at the court show that during the application process the Burkes shared their beliefs ‘that marriage is between a woman and a man and that sexual relations are to be kept within the bounds of such a marriage’.
