A Christian graphic artist and web designer from Colorado has won a landmark free speech case at the US Supreme Court.
Lorie Smith, founder of 303 Creative, was challenging a state law which would have compelled her to produce artwork that went against her sincerely held religious beliefs.
Under the state law she would, for example, have been penalised if she refused to produce material in favour of same-sex marriage.
But the ruling said, ‘as this Court has long held, the opportunity to think for ourselves and to express those thoughts freely is among our most cherished liberties and part of what keeps our Republic strong.’
