US: Legal win for teacher who was fired over pronoun row

A teacher in the US has been awarded $575,000 (£439,900) in damages and legal fees after being dismissed for refusing to use the preferred pronouns of a gender-dysphoric student.

The case relates to a female student who identified as a male. Teacher Peter Vlaming was willing to use the student’s ‘preferred name’, but refused to use male pronouns.
