A street preacher who was told by the police he wasn’t allowed to comment on other religions has won his legal action.
Avon and Somerset Police settled out of court with Dia Moodley, a Bristol-based pastor and father of four.
The police now accept that their restrictions on free speech were ‘disproportionate’ after unlawfully censoring Moodley.
The force had previously issued a warning notice to Moodley, who has engaged in occasional street evangelism for the past five years.
The notice tried to ban him from ‘passing comments on any other religion or comparing them to Christianity’.
